This mani is very simple and was inspired by a dress I wore over the weekend.  I only used one base color...Bouncer It's Me by Essie and stamped one design using one color, Harp On It by Color Club.  And to add a lil bit more interest I applied some holographic bar glitter on my accent nail.  I don't normally wear much glitter polish, but lately I have been buying them so I figured I should start using them more.

Here's what I used:

  • Base coat: Seche Recondition
  • Base color: Bouncer It's Me by Essie
  • Accent Nail Top Coat: In The Spotlight by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
  • Top coat 1: Seche Vite Top Coat - I apply this before stamping, if I mess up I can remove the design without removing the base color
  • Stamp colors: Harp On It by Color Club
  • Top coat 2: IBD UV Top Coat cured under a 54 watt UV lamp for 3 minutes
  • IP: Dashica Beauty Shop - Big SdP V

While I am totally in love with the outcome of this mani I am utterly disappointed by the formulas of these polishes...specifically the Essie polish.

My first issue with Bouncer It's Me by Essie is the color.  It's supposed to be a vibrant neon blue, but it's looks like navy blue.  It wasn't the color I was expecting once applied.  OMG!!!  The formula is HORRIBLE!!!!  I absolutely hate it because it is so streaky and patchy and just a bad formula.  In order for it to look right you literally have to just glop it on your nail applying 1 super stupid thick coat.  Which we all know means the drying time is just ridiculous.  This is why I don't really buy Essie because I have the worst time applying it, but I just had to buy it because of the color it looked great in the bottle.  I must say for $8 I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS POLISH!!  If you want to see for yourself just how bad the formula is, please check out my polish review video from the video widget on the right hand side of the screen.

In The Spotlight by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear wasn't as bad as the Essie polish, but not the greatest.  Again the outcome is great, but glitters are always tricky and this one was no different.  I have never owned any bar glitter polishes before this one and because it is holographic I just had to buy it.  Unfortunately like Bouncer It's Me you have to apply it pretty thick to get decent distribution.  But at only $2.50 - $3.00 I'm not mad that I bought it because with any glitter polish I only apply it as an accent so not too much trouble.  I actually recommend this polish, because I expected it would need to be applied thickly.
