I am finally getting caught on my blog posts and wanted to share my current mani.  One of my best friends picked the colors for this mani and then I chose 2 colors I have not used yet.  One of the brands, Hard Candy, I have never ever used before.  My local Walmart only recently started carrying them.  The other brand is +OPI Inc.

This mani is very different than my usual mani, in that it seems like I have a lot going on.  I have glitter polish, studs, rhinestones and stamped designs.  It started out simple...I was just going to have 1 accent nail painted with Peach Pop (the ring finger) and the rest of the nails painted with Did you Ear About Van Gogh?.  But after applying the 1st coat, I realized I wanted to punch it up a bit more, so I applied Peach Pop over Did you Ear About Van Gogh? on my index fingers.  And I then decided to apply some triangle studs and accent that with clear rhinestones.  TIP: if you have curved nail beds, you will need to slightly bend the triangle studs so they will sit flush against the nail.  Since I was only placing the studs and rhinestones on my ring fingers I decided to stamp over the glitter polish on my index fingers.  I used the brighter orange stamping polish over the glitter so it will be more visible.  Over Did you Ear About Van Gogh? I stamped the design using the lighter orange because it is an exact color match for Peach Pop.

Here's what I used:

  • Base coat: +OPI Inc Nail Envy - original
  • Base color 1: Peach Pop by Hard Candy
  • Base color 2: Did you Ear About Van Gogh? by OPI
  • Top coat 1: Seche Vite Top Coat - I apply this before stamping, if I mess up I can remove the design without removing the base color
  • Stamp colors: Konad Orange & Orange Pearl
  • Top coat 2: IBD UV Top Coat cured under a 54 watt UV lamp for 3 minutes
  • IP: Dashica Beauty Shop - Big SdP X

Peach Pop, by Hard Candy, is a really pretty peachy-coral color, that just looks awesome.  The formula is thick like a jellie; and the glitter (red, orange, silver & white) are suspended in a milky-peach base.  And I like the brush; its not as big as the OPI brush, but its bigger than most other polishes.  The application is  just OK; mainly due to the glitter distribution.  You get enough at the top of your nail, but by the time you get to the tip the glitter is very sparse and you will have patches.  To fix the patches I found patting it on to work the best.  I did apply 2 coats, and I'm pleased with final look.

Did you Ear About Van Gogh? was totally surprising to me because I have not had good experiences with some of the OPI creme formulas that I have tried.  This polish is a gorgeous, khaki-nude tan color, and I love it!!  The formula is normal, and applies great.  At first it looks like its going to be streaky, but after it settles it is perfect.  The brush is large and spreads out perfectly for an even distribution.  I only applied 1 coat, since polish is perfectly opaque in 1 coat.  I will definitely be trying more creme formulas from OPI.
