I received the Julep Beach Tonic Dry Body Oil in my July +Julep Maven monthly subscription box.  When Julep shared a sneak peak on their Facebook page of what the beauty product for July was going to be, I was pretty excited because I love the body products I have tried from Julep.

When I received my box on July 2nd, I couldn't wait to try it.  I tried it that very night and the following 2 days to discover  if it would deliver the results it claimed.  Below is what Julep claims:

What It Is: A blend of lightweight yet nourishing oils that moisturize, condition, and restore elasticity and suppleness to the body.
What It Does: Absorbs instantly and leaves a satin finish without a greasy residue. Treatment mist contains a blend of cotton seed oil, rich in cell nourishing vitamin E, and sunflower oil- for deep conditioning and softening of even the driest skin.
How To Use: Mist onto slightly damp skin. Massage in thoroughly. Use whenever and whenever skin feels dry. Can be used under lotion for more skin conditioning. Do not use on face.
Features & Benefits:
  • Cotton seed oil, rich in cell nourishing vitamin E
  • Sunflower oil deep conditions with linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid
  • Absorbs instantly, and leaves a satin finish- never a greasy residue
  • Lightly fragranced with a pleasant blend of citrus and floral notes
  • Fine mist spray provides an easy application
  • Does not contain parabens or sulfates

Here is what I experienced:

Pros:

  • It does absorb instantly (as long as you don't apply too much)
    • Even if you do apply too much it does eventually absorb completely.
  • There is NO greasy residue left behind
  • It is very light weight, you don't feel it at all
  • It has a really nice scent
  • Application was easy, just spray & rub in...after the 1st use, I ended up just spraying it into my hands and then applied to skin.  This was easier for me because I have problems with my hands that make it difficult to use some sprays.
Cons:
  • My skin only felt moisturized to the touch while rubbing it in
  • After it absorbed, it did NOT look like I had applied anything to my skin
  • Several minutes after absorption, my skin looked & felt dry...like nothing was applied
  • My skin looked and felt dry and by the 3rd day of applying; it really looked dry because this is the only "moisturizer" I used for 3 days!!!
So, I am sad to say, that this product was a fail for me.  I do have dry skin, so maybe the fine mist is just too fine and lightweight for my skin.  I will not be repurchasing this product...I will however, just use the rest of it as an oil-based body spray because I really do like the scent.

Have you tried this product?  If so, I would love to hear your what you think about it.
