Hello everyone...I hope all is well!

As many of you may already know, I am super obsessed with the Julep cleansing oil.  I use it daily and I love it.  But if you are not a member of Julep or subscribed to their monthly subscription service, it is pricey.  So I wanted to see if there were any cheaper alternatives that work just as well.  Guess what???  I actually found one!!

The product I am referring to is the  +e.l.f. Cosmetics Hydrating Gel Melt Cleanser.  I am going to be completely honest...I was totally skeptical about this product.  I was pleasantly surprised at how much I ended up loving this product.

Product claims:

This Hydrating Gel Melt Cleanser easily dissolves makeup and pollutants from the skin. Infused with argan oil, rose extracts, seed oils, and vitamin C, this cleanser leaves your face moisturized with each use.

Does the product meet E.L.F.'s claims???

  • Easily dissolve makeup and pollutants: Yes...given that you apply enough
  • Leaves your face moisturized: Absolutely!

  •  Regular price is only $10

  • You can easily use this up quickly due to having to scoop the product out.
  • Thoroughly removes makeup (waterproof mascara as well)
  • It can be difficult to scoop out the exact same amount each time
  • Leaves skin hydrated
  • Compared to cleansing oils, this requires more effort to start breaking down the makeup...especially mascara.  But it does remove the makeup

  • Didn't not cause my already oily skin to become more oily
    • Requires the use of more product than cleansing oil

    • Did not cause any breakouts

    • You may use it up kind of quickly, depending on how much you have to use.

    Additional thoughts and information:

The Gel Melt facial cleanser has a thicker consistency.  Not thin like a normal gel (like the Shea Moisture smoothie) and not as thick as pomade type of product (like an edge control)...it is somewhere in between the two.  This I am sure has something to do with the type of packaging used, as it is not thin enough for a pump type dispenser.  I applied the gel melt cleanser with the E.L.F. Pore Refining Brush and Mask Tool (review coming soon).  I did not use this with the e.l.f. Cleansing Duo Face Brush, as I was testing out another facial brush.  (Haul & review coming soon).

Once you have determined the right amount to use you can better gauge how quickly you will go through the product.  It took me about a month to use up the product.  But at the extremely affordable price of $10, I don't mind this being a monthly purchase.

I give this product a 4 and DEFINITELY recommend you try this product.
